Cloud 9 –  a floating bar in the middle of pacific ocean –  holds up to its name pretty well. If you have just a day (or even a lifetime!) to spend in Fiji, I would definitely recommend that you experience a sunset at Cloud 9.

How to get there?

There are two boats leaving from Denarau port everyday at 9:15 AM and 1:15 PM. If you want to book in advance, you can do it through their website. It costs 229 FJD per person which includes a 60 FJD credit which can be used for food and drinks at the bar. The price also includes drop-off to your hotel or airport but make sure to confirm this at the time of booking. You can also book this trip with a travel agent at Denarau port or even at Nadi airport. Same day booking may not be available during peak season.

The overall duration of the trip is around 6 hours which includes the boat ride (40 minutes each way) from Denarau port to Cloud 9 and back.

If you are staying at one of the nearby islands you can also check with your resort. Some resorts have a daily trip to Cloud 9 via private shuttle. Prices will vary.

The boat rides in and out can be very choppy depending on ocean conditions. The captain will gladly hand out trash bags if you feel sea sick.

What all is there to do?

This is a place to party while enjoying the turquoise blue ocean. Buy a drink and admire the ocean until the sun starts to set.

Pizza and drinks

They have a full bar and a wood-fired oven which makes great pizza. The FJD 60 credit is enough for 1-2 drinks and a pizza.

If you brought along your snorkel gear you can explore the nearby coral reef or solve the mystery of how the bar doesn’t float away. You can also rent snorkeling gear at Cloud 9.

There is diving platform on the upper level to jump into the ocean. There are no showers (only marine toilet) on board so you will have to wait to reach your hotel or airport for a shower. At Nadi International airport there is a shower in male restroom but not in female restroom.

They have a nice selection of chilled out tunes and it is not uncommon to see people dancing on table tops towards the end of the day. The staff is super friendly and fun and take good care of you.

Cloud 9 is an experience which I highly recommend.

Don’t forget to comment and share your experience if you are also able to make it there.

P.S. If you do make it there and party a little too hard remember to ask your boat captain for a trash bag on the ride back 😉
